FNQ Aviation Museum
Overview
The Far North Queensland Aviation Museum (FNQAM), a fully volunteer-run community organisation, required durable, industrial-grade doors that could withstand the demanding conditions of an aviation facility in rural North Queensland. After an extensive comparison, the museum selected Larnec as their preferred door supplier — prioritising reliability, installation efficiency, and long-term performance.

Why FNQAM Chose Larnec
Operating in a high-humidity, high-dust environment, FNQAM needed a door solution that could cope with harsh conditions while maintaining a professional appearance.
After reviewing several options, Larnec stood out for key reasons:
- Industrial-grade quality: Built to withstand heavy use in aviation and industrial environments.
- Proven reputation: Recognised across the sector for reliability and long service life.
- Volunteer-friendly installation: With most of FNQAM’s labour provided by volunteers, a system that saved time and simplified installation was essential — and Larnec delivered.
Experience With the Larnec Team
FNQAM described their experience with Larnec as consistently positive.
- Clear and reliable communication from initial enquiry through to delivery
- Expert support in selecting the right product for their unique environment
- Prompt and flexible delivery, particularly important given the challenges of regional logistics
The museum noted that Larnec’s team remained supportive, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the entire process.
Installation & On-Site Performance
The installation process was smooth — a key success factor for a volunteer-operated organisation.
Since being installed, the doors have:
- Handled humidity and dust extremely well
- Provided a solid, secure and professional finish to the facility
- Shown impressive build quality, with no issues to date
Brendan emphasised that the doors have enhanced both the functionality and the appearance of the museum’s workshop spaces.
