Nauru Accommodation Village
Project Overview
In 2023, Larnec was engaged to supply over 330 custom-engineered Sentry™ 200 Series Screen Doors for a large-scale accommodation village project in Nauru, PNG. The project demanded a door solution capable of withstanding the demanding tropical climate of the Pacific while delivering the highest standards of security and ventilation — requirements that made the Sentry 200 Series the clear choice.
With a remote delivery location, a tight programme and a need for fully customised door specifications, this project exemplified Larnec’s ability to engineer, manufacture and deliver fit-for-purpose access solutions to virtually any location in the world — on time, in full, and without disruption to the construction schedule.

Built For The Tropics — Why The Sentry™ 200 Series
Nauru sits just south of the equator in the central Pacific Ocean, experiencing a tropical climate year-round. Temperatures regularly hover between 26°C and 34°C, with high humidity levels, strong seasonal winds and intense UV exposure defining the daily environment. In conditions like these, a standard door simply won’t perform — and for an accommodation village housing people day in, day out, the stakes are even higher.
Airflow is not a luxury in this environment — it’s a necessity. Without adequate ventilation, buildings trap heat and moisture, making living spaces uncomfortable and contributing to long-term structural degradation. The Sentry™ 200 Series was designed precisely for this challenge.
The Sentry™ 200 Series delivers the best of both worlds: the kind of security demanded in a multi-occupancy residential environment, and the ventilation performance essential for comfortable, healthy living in a tropical climate. Every door in this project was custom-specified to ensure it met the precise dimensional and performance requirements of the accommodation village.

Global Supply Capability
One of the defining challenges of this project was not what was being built, but where. Nauru is a remote island nation in the Pacific, far from the supply chains that serve most major construction markets. For many suppliers, this represents a barrier. For Larnec, it is simply a logistics consideration.
Larnec manufactures all Sentry™ products from our Australian facilities, giving us complete control over quality, specification and production scheduling. This means that whether a project is in metropolitan Melbourne or a remote Pacific island, we can engineer, produce and deliver to meet your programme.
Our international delivery capability is backed by a 97% DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time) performance record — a commitment that ensures the door component of your build is never the reason a programme is delayed.
Larnec’s Australian manufacturing capability and global logistics experience means no project is too remote, too large or too complex.

Staged Delivery — On Your Terms
For the Nauru project, delivering over 330 screen doors in a single shipment would have created significant storage and handling challenges on site. Our customer’s preference was a staged approach, and Larnec was fully equipped to accommodate it.
The full scope was delivered across four carefully coordinated instalments, with each delivery timed to align with site readiness and installation sequencing. This approach eliminated unnecessary on-site stockpiling and ensured doors were available exactly when and where they were needed.
Larnec’s flexible fulfilment model means we can work to any delivery schedule our customers require — whether that is a single delivery, staged drops aligned to construction milestones, or a combination of both. We coordinate around your programme, not ours.

Outcome
The Nauru accommodation village project was delivered successfully, on programme and to specification. Every one of the 330+ Sentry™ 200 Series doors was custom-engineered to meet the precise requirements of the project — in dimension, hardware specification and compliance rating — and delivered in a sequence that supported, rather than disrupted, the construction programme.
The result is an accommodation village equipped with access solutions that will continue to perform in one of the world’s most demanding climates for years to come.
